1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Spark — our website, early-access list and (once launched) our platform. By using Spark or joining our early-access list, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Spark.

2. Who can use Spark

Spark is built for current university students in the United Kingdom and United States. To create an account (once available), you'll need to verify a valid university email address (.ac.uk or .edu). You must be old enough to use online services in your country and capable of entering into these Terms. You agree that the information you give us is accurate and that you are who you say you are.

3. Early access

Spark is currently pre-launch. Joining the early-access list means we may email you about the launch and related updates. It does not guarantee access to any particular feature, or that the product will launch on any particular date — or at all. Features described on our website are planned and may change.

4. Your account

When accounts become available, you are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think your account has been compromised. You may close your account at any time.

5. Acceptable use

To keep Spark a useful and safe space, you agree not to:

• Impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your identity, university or skills;
• Post anything unlawful, harmful, hateful, harassing, misleading or infringing;
• Spam other users, scrape the platform, or attempt to break or misuse it;
• Use Spark for recruitment unrelated to genuine student projects, or for any purpose it isn't meant for.

We may suspend or remove accounts that break these rules.

6. Your content

You keep ownership of the content you post (your projects, messages, profile, and so on). By posting it, you give us a limited licence to host and display it as needed to operate Spark. You're responsible for what you post and confirm you have the right to share it.

7. Connecting with others

Spark helps students find each other, but we are not a party to any agreement, team, partnership or arrangement you form with another user. We don't guarantee that you'll find a teammate, build a team, or that any project will succeed. Decisions about who you work with, and on what terms, are entirely your own — we encourage you to agree things like roles and ownership clearly between yourselves.

8. Investors and partners

Where Spark highlights investors, grants, accelerators or partners, we are providing introductions and information only. We do not provide financial, investment, legal or tax advice, and nothing on Spark should be taken as such. Any funding arrangement is strictly between you and the relevant third party, and you should seek your own professional advice.

9. Third-party services

Spark may link to or integrate with third-party tools (for example, Discord for team communication). We're not responsible for those services, and your use of them is governed by their own terms.

10. Availability and changes

We're a small, fast-moving team. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of Spark at any time, and we may update these Terms. If we make significant changes, we'll take reasonable steps to let you know. Continuing to use Spark after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

11. Liability

Spark is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for outcomes arising from your interactions with other users, projects or third parties. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction over any disputes.
